Maverick Machines: from Self-organising Materials to Intelligence

Gunnar Tufte is a Professor at the Department of Computer and Information Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Tufte obtained his Ph.D. degree in computer science from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2004. His main research interests include evolution-in-materio, vast parallel architectures, bio-inspired hardware, artificial development, evolvable hardware, artificial life and complex & adaptive systems. Dr. Tufte has worked on evolution of nanoscale information processing devices within the EU FP7 FET project NASCENCE, and currently works on computation in biological neurons and nanomagnets within the NFR Socrates project.
